Kathryn MacLeod (also known as Katie) is a Scottish writer, journalist, and award-winning blogger based in New York City.
Her writing covers a wide spectrum of stories from the local to the global, and has been published in BBC.com, Buzzfeed, Roads and Kingdoms, and more. She can seamlessly switch from interviewing a bestselling author to telling the story of a small family-run start-up, and is equally as comfortable reporting on a fashion show as she is covering a political debate.
She has appeared as a guest speaker on STV News and BBC Radio 5 Live, and her photography has been published in BBC Travel, Roads and Kingdoms, and Fur Sie. Kathryn also runs the award-winning travel blog, Stories My Suitcase Could Tell. Founded in 2011, it was named ‘Best Travel Blog 2014’ by Cosmopolitan Magazine, and has since been featured in National Geographic Traveller, Buzzfeed, Cosmopolitan, The Sun, and Wanderlust Magazine.
She holds a Masters in International Relations from the University of St Andrews in Scotland, which included a year spent studying Political Science at the University of Pennsylvania on an academic scholarship. In 2018 she graduated from the Columbia Publishing Course at the Columbia Journalism School in New York City.
Originally from Scotland’s Outer Hebrides, Kathryn has lived and worked in three countries and travelled to many more. When she’s not writing, she can usually be found getting stuck into a good book, packing her suitcase for the next adventure, or heading out in search of the best food her adopted home of New York City has to offer.
